Malayappa swami is worshipped during religious ceremonies and processions wherein it would be innapropriate to use the main deity. The two deities are worshiped equally. Malayappa swamy deity is classed as swayambhu and was discovered in 1339 CE. Initial records state his original name as MALAI KUNIYA NINRA PERUMAL with Sridevi on right side and Bhudevi on the left side

In TIRUMALA This rituals, also called JYESHTABHISHEKAMperformed in the months of JYESHTA for 3days.
This festival is meant for proper protection and preservation of the Utsava idols through various pujas and mantras.
On the first day the golden kavacha of Lord is removed and Abhishekam and Snapana tirumanjanam are performed, later the Lord is adorned with diamond kavacha, on second day he is adorned with Pearl studded kavacha and taken out in procession. On the third day Malayappa swamy is decorated with Golden kavacha after Snapana tirumanjanam. Malayappa swamy is visible in GOLDEN KAVACHA(ARMOUR) THROUGH OUT THE YEAR.
